“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.”
One of my favorite beach activities is searching for seashells. I love to dig my toes into the soft sand and gaze into the warm, lapping waves in expectation of finding what I know is here. Simple delight!
Here, in Matthew 7:7, we are instructed to “ask, seek, and knock” through prayer for the blessings of God such as daily provision, grace, wisdom, and salvation. So why should we ask if we believe He will provide? If even an imperfect, earthly father responds to the voice of his child calling out for help, how much more will our perfect Heavenly Father give His good gifts to us when we ask. He loves us so much!
Would the seashell still be there if I did not search for it? Yes... for the one who seeks it that day. Our Good Father is waiting for us to call out to Him.
