Psalms Day 8-5 Memoirs of the Chosen

To me, one of the most significant historical documents of all time are the memoirs of Anne Frank as recorded in her diary. They’re not just objective reports of events from some distant scholars who never experienced them, but rather are accounts of the heart of history through the eyes of a soul who breathed in the moments in person.

This is also how I see the Bible!  It’s such an incredible gift of God to us as His dearly loved children!

Read 1 Kings 2:10-12.

We say good-bye to David in such a quiet way. But such is how life begins and ends.

What was the most surprising thing about David’s life to you?

What was the greatest lesson you learned?

How has this impacted your life and changed you?

What will you do from here?

As incredibly entertaining as David’s story is, that’s not the reason it’s recorded for us. God gives us His Word and His Holy Spirit to bring about change in our hearts and our lives as we know Him better.  Anytime we open the pages, we should do so with a pure heart open to receive His truth so that we will be changed and used in His perfect plan for the salvation of all men.  I know that sounds dramatic!  It is.  We’ve been given the Bible as our guidebook for the brief time we have been stewarded to live on earth.

I’m praying that I’ll never become desensitized to God’s Spirit or His Word. I don’t want to take it lightly or as a item on my daily checklist. I want to be passionate about His message and calling in my life, and I want to be changed.  That’s why I have to approach study each day through prayer and honest confession of my sin as I yield to His Holiness and my lack of it.

And I pray the same for you, and that you will continue on your own journey in His Word.  I’m leaving you with a list of additional Psalms that are credited to David.  I hope you’ll read them!  Everything that I write in these studies is what God is teaching me, and He has amazing things to teach YOU personally!

Blessings and so much love to you as my dear sister in Christ!  Anne
