Ephesians Day 1-1

Good morning!  It’s our first official study day together!  I’ve prayed for both of us, and I know that the Lord is going to bless our time.

The first thing I usually do before I open God’s Word is to pray.  I just ask Him to calm my heart, help me to focus, and open my eyes to His truth.  I also pray and ask Him to help me see if there’s anything separating me from Him {s.i.n.!} that I need to confess. He is so faithful to guide my heart and mind in all of this.  I would really recommend that you start that way each day and simply be honest with Him asking for His presence.

When you’re ready, read Ephesians 1:1-6.

Now grab your notebook or journaling Bible, and here we go!

1.  Although we know that Paul wrote this to people in a place called Ephesus, who was he specifically speaking to there?  Why is his letter included in the Bible... what does it have to do with me and you?

2. Paul humbly goes on to tell us some important things about God.  What attributes of God does Paul help us recognize in verses 3-6?  Just to give you an idea of how to get going here... I started with generous.  See what you can come up with!

3.  What do you think are the “spiritual blessings” that we receive from God?  Try to find at least a couple in here.

4.  Now, before we get caught up in the whole predestination question {I mean - scholars can’t even agree on a “right” answer for this!}, let’s answer this next question and simply focus on the glorious message here:

WHY do you think God did all this for us?  I think there are at least 2 reasons here... in verses 5 and 6.

We don’t always understand how He works.  He’s God after all!  That’s when we practice faith and trust His ways even when we cannot see or understand all the details. This we know, God wants us to know we are treasured, chosen and created for a very clear purpose.  Every one of us!

Now for the last question...

5.  Who is God’s Beloved One that Paul mentions right at the end of 6?

And that brings us to the end of our study today.  I LOVE where we’re headed tomorrow!

We serve a mighty, all-powerful King who was willing to give up His Beloved One for you and me.  The stage is set for the greatest love story ever told, and we’re a part of it!  I don’t know about you, but I’m going to spend some time reflecting on God’s character today and lifting my heart’s praise to Him!  ❤️
