Space for Grace

Good morning, ladies! You’re looking at the sum total of my Christmas decor this year... a fake tree that’s been with us for about 15 years and a garland on the mantle! 🤷🏼‍♀️ And it’s perfect. I hate to say it, but I have always dreaded the holiday decorating and felt obligated to do something impressive. Have you felt that pressure? All the time, money, and effort I spent on Christmas decor left me a little dry for what really mattered. I was sucked into the aisles of commercialism and came out as dry as a fruit cake... all in the name of celebrating Jesus. Quite ironic.

This year, I’m praying for and seeking margins of grace. Margins to let grace soak into my heart and space to see opportunities to give it to those around me. I want to be a messenger like John in Luke 3 who serves and exists with humility in effort to point to the One who is truly worthy. For me, this means margins of simplicity and an offering of my heart {not my decked halls}. I don’t think Jesus was ever impressed with my coordinating ornaments! 🤦🏼‍♀️

What about you? What has filled your grace space at Christmastime? It’s not too late to refocus - cut back yet give more of what matters, to be still and be stirred, and to shine brighter without spending another dollar at Hobby Lobby. Space for grace and our Savior Jesus isn’t for after His “birthday party.” He isn’t coming - He’s already here! And I want to celebrate in His presence and watch His gift of grace overflow into the world! I don’t want to miss a single day of soaking in this glorious season WITH Him and celebrating all that He means to me! This is truly peace on earth and joy to the world.

“As the people were in expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Christ, John answered them all, saying, ‘I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.’” - Luke 3:15-16

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” - John 14:27
